    by Tanyamariedube from Canada

What a great show. I loved listening to your episode with Dave Lorenzo on the 60 Second Sale. As someone who loves sales (but loathed them when I started with cold calls and cold door knocking), I loved what he said about hearing the word “no”. In sales, we are trained to look for the no’s. It makes us really good at it if we can really get into it. What you two were talking about with regard to how our limitations are i’’our minds really resonated with me. I love that because it’s a game changer when you understand that sales is just about helping people solve a massive problem and getting paid for it and then taking imperfect action, get on your feet and have fun. Thanks so much! Love this show.

Mario Fachini [0:13]

What’s shaking Expert Authority World? I am here with another great episode. I have none other than Dr. Weller from Getting Weller. He’s going to be sharing with us the importance of chiropractic and what it means to your business and what it means to your life. So I’m excited to bring him up right after our sponsor.

SPONSOR Be.Live [0:30]

Mario Fachini [0:50]

Here he is everyone, Dr. Weller. Eddie, it’s great to have you here today.

Eddie Weller [0:53]

Hey, brother. Thank you for inviting me.

Mario Fachini [0:54]

So the first thing I want to ask you is the inspiration to start your company. Out of every everything you do, why did you want to get into this and why did you start it?

Eddie Weller [1:03]

What’s interesting is, the very first business I had when I was in third grade running a chop shop with two friends that would steal bicycles in the neighborhood. And I would take apart those bicycles and put them back together. And I’m like, “Wow. Am I an entrepreneur?” So that was my first entrepreneurial business to start it. And ever since then, it kind of snowballed. I had no idea I was initially going to school to be a police officer. And I met this doctor and moved the bone in my neck, it transformed my life. So I went from cop to being a chiropractor to focusing and specializing on the upper cervical spine, the top bone in your neck. And it’s changed my life. So from there, I couldn’t really work for anybody else. I kind of liked my own rules and wearing my own hats. And so from there, it kind of snowballed. And now, actually as of last week, I’ve been 20 years into doing this. So it’s been pretty cool.

Mario Fachini [1:52]

Wow. Congratulations.

Eddie Weller [1:55]

Yeah, it’s been awesome. It’s been awesome. So I have many companies. I think right now, I’m at 14 different companies that I’ve started. And some are continuing and going. And some of them, they had good ideas but as an entrepreneur, bad thought. But this has been great. And this is the way I get to serve people and put a smile on God’s face. So this is something that I love to do.

Mario Fachini [2:15]

I love it. So you were touching upon that you enjoy helping people. Let’s go into how you help them and how do you help them?

Eddie Weller [2:24]

Okay. First and foremost, it starts with hope. Everything we’ve done as far as our health and who we are as humans is based on an outside end premise. Which means, don’t go outside, you’re going to get sick, put a jacket on, it’s cold. Or you know what I mean? And so it’s always like the outside is going to get us sick. Oh, germs cause disease. Cold and flu season is coming. You know, allergy season. Where did that come from? So one of the things that I focus on is, I don’t believe our Creator – I talk a lot of God if you can’t tell – but our Creator made a mistake. And so if the body is made to take care of itself – because we came from one cell. So if the body is made to take care of itself, why isn’t it? Why are hospitals full? Why are we seeking a pill from the outside in when we should be healing from the inside out? Because after all, if the problem comes in the inside so does the answer. And so this is what my last physical done – sitting down with the doctor – I’m 47. It wasn’t eighth grade. And so I’m not saying anybody shouldn’t get a physical but up to this point in my life, I haven’t had the need to because the things that I do, I concentrate on taking care of me. And these are the things that I instill in people’s lives. So going, “Everything you’ve done up to now has caused you to be in the situation that you’re in.” So somebody – I’m not saying I’m the answer but I’m “a” answer – may give you a little bit of insight of going, “Maybe I should make some different decisions.” Case in point, yesterday, a gentleman started with me, 23 surgeries, 16 prescriptions. “Help me out. Like, help me out.” So some thing is wrong with the system. And if you drive by a hospital at night and all those lights are on, those people are being pumped with medications without any hope. And something’s being cut out or they’re being put in synthetically. And I don’t think our God created us to do that. So it’s not a religious thing. It’s a life thing. And so if it’s a life thing, I mean, heck, if you fall down right now – God forbid – and break your arm, in six weeks, regardless of age, you will heal.  If you cut yourself with a knife or you get burned, it will heal. So if it heals, if they can heal on the outside, what about the things in the inside? I can go on and on with this. Yesterday, we saw – God only knows how many people my staff is with me now – I had a little one come on in that’s 12 or 18 months old-ish – the 15 or 14 months – with a 103 fever. And so I analyzed the spine. I identified what’s going on neurologically with the spine, restored neurologic functioning. And the family calls me 15-ish minutes later in the car, baby soaking wet, fever broke. I have another gentleman who has been with me now five-and-a-half years. And he goes, “I just had an endoscope done to see what’s going on my colon. They can’t find Crohn’s disease.” Like, “What? Okay.” So another lady come on in and she broke her leg. Had a really bad trauma and broke her leg. The doctor said, “We’re going to have to remove your leg. And if you can get motor or sensory function back, maybe we’ll keep it.” So she’s my age in the mid 40s. And anyway, so I sit down with her, explain what I do. And she’s like, “I know though. But you work here. My problem is down below in my leg.” I said, “Yeah. But the nerve supply from your leg starts here.” And so anyway, she’s been under care with me. She gives me a report. And the doctor said, “If you can pick up a marble with your toes, you can keep your legs.” So she sent me a picture in her house, she’s, “Thank you for saving my leg.” And she’s holding a marble with their toes. And so it’s just craziness. And so what does your spine have to do with all of these different health issues? Everything. I got sick at 17 years old. So from late 17 to 23, I suffered with irritable bowel. Diarrhea just about every day. And I graduated high school fairly. ADD kid couldn’t sit still, king of the detentions, right? That kids got a 1.9 on my grade point and 10 on my ACT. And graduated high school on a third grade reading level. Struggled terribly. I’ve had several car accidents, falls. I used to skateboard and had a blue Mohawk at one time. That whole kid, I don’t know how many false, bumps, and traumas I had to my spine. But I met a doctor at 21 years old. I grew up in Chicago. If you can’t tell, this doesn’t shut up. So I grew up in Chicago. I moved down to Florida to be a cop. I met this doctor who moved a bone in my neck. I went from seasoned Ds to As and Bs. And irritable bowel was gone. And so I had to do this. And so going back to the business thing, I had something that transformed my life. So I have to run a business on a level that I’m with people that they’ve never had or seen this before. And I want to introduce it to offer them a little bit of hope with science and watch their lives transform from the inside out.

Mario Fachini [6:53]

That is incredible. I love those. So you have already touched on some of your success stories. What would you say is your biggest success story? Just the biggest one you’ve had so far.

Eddie Weller [7:04]

Oh, gosh. Gosh, that’s a toughie. I mean, 20 years in, right? So it’s all these different stories with people like – a lady was in just the other day, and she’s had some bone tumors. Nineteen bone tumors when she started with me. And she’s about six to eight months what they said, “There’s nothing more we can do.” So maybe you might get a year’s worth of time. It’s just not good. Needless to say, she’s been with me now six years. And so she went from 19 bone tumors, she has one left. And the tumor is no longer malignant. It’s benign and it sits in her wrist. So those kind of cases when I meet people, I don’t fix problems. I don’t fix your health issue. That’s not what chiropractic is. And unfortunately, chiropractic is a box of chocolates, because you never know what you’re going to get when you walk into a chiropractor’s office. You know, if a chiropractor is painting the wall, and you say, “Hey. What do you doing?” They’re like, “I’m doing chiropractic.” “No, you’re not.” Just because a chiropractor is doing something, it doesn’t mean that they’re doing chiropractic. And so I am a little bit of a thorn in their side. And just this morning I actually went to my alma mater, not too far from my office. I’m here in St. Louis. And they don’t – I’m looking for chiropractic books in the bookstore. They’re not even selling them – history and philosophy books of chiropractic. But we have to go back to the definition of chiropractic. Chiropractic simply means adjustment done by hand. That’s all that means, period. An adjustment to what? To the spine. Analyze the spine when it’s out of normal position because it’s affecting nerve function. When you realign the spine properly, engage it scientifically. That’s the problem. If a chiropractor is going, “Yeah. Yeah. I can really feel it over here.” You can’t – this isn’t a science gauge. You can’t feel it. So there’s got to be objective gauging. And when you objectively gauge the spine before and after the adjustment, you’ve proved your work, and you watch people’s lives transform.

Mario Fachini [8:50]

I love it. I’ve always known you’ve taken a different approach to it. And clearly, it’s the secret to your success. And for anyone watching him, you can see that he has this energy of someone half his age. And he alluded to it earlier and that’s why I’m bringing it up. Because when I first met him, he was just as fireball of energy and everything. And I was like, “Whoa. You know, what is he doing?” Because so many people are just humdrum, walking around, doing whatever with life. And it’s like, what would it be worth to get your energy back? How can you even put a price on this –

Eddie Weller [9:23]

That’s exactly right. And what’s interesting, I was explaining the whole concept of health and wealth. We work our tail off to gain and gain and gain and gain more money and we lose our health in the same time. And so at the end of that when you made your money, now, you got to give it back. This guy who started with me with the 23 surgeries, yesterday he started, money is not an issue. He owns his own business. He’s crushing it. But he’s sick as a dog. And so what good is it to make all your money? I always refer back to Steve Jobs. The guy was a rock star. Yet he can buy any doctor and he couldn’t buy his health. And health was given to us. It’s like starting school, you always start with an A. You start with an A.

Mario Fachini [10:03]

But can you keep it?

Eddie Weller [10:04]

Right. How do you maintain that? And most don’t. And because we lose our health with these thoughts, traumas, or toxins. We’re toxic people. We’re stress people. We’re not human beings. We’re human doings. And we have to do, do, do and collect, collect, collect. Get all this stuff. Call me crazy, but your hearse will not have a hitch. You can’t take it with you. And so the idea is, is we start as infants, we work our tail off, and we want to go back to being infants by being human being again. Why not be that now? And so that’s some of the things that I teach in Getting Weller, healthy body, healthy mind, healthy relationships. It just so happens to be my last name.

Mario Fachini [10:41]

That works out perfectly. And I’ve told people for years and I know what you believe and everything, too. But I always tell everyone, God, health, family, business in that order. Would you agree?

Eddie Weller [10:52]

I totally agree. The Four F’s, right? It goes, faith, family, friends, fellowship.

Mario Fachini [10:59]

Absolutely. And so many people, you know, you want to talk about chiropracting and getting stuff aligned. What are your priorities? You know, there’s something that is probably going to irritate someone watching this. But that’s fine. Because it helps them take action and go, “You know what? Maybe I should shift this around or realign it.” That’s what they should be doing.

Eddie Weller [11:18]

I’m in the office two days a week, Mondays and Thursdays is when I typically see clients. And I don’t call them patients because I don’t treat disease. You’re a client, I provide a professional service to you. See the shift? It’s not sickness thinking. It’s a lifestyle thinking. You don’t go to the health club, what do you get health in the health club? It’s a gym. You move your butt. Because it just makes sense. And so this is why when I teach all these different things. “What do you do on Tuesdays? What do you do on Wednesdays? What do you do on Fridays?” People ask me that. “I’m very involved with my family. I coach all the different sports. I kind of dig my wife. I like having me time. I like taking care of me.” I’ve got time, it’s important. And I can make more money and be in the office and I lose part of my life then. So I kind of like this little thing I’ve created. “Oh, you’re lucky.” You’re not lucky. I created it that way.

Mario Fachini [12:06]

Yeah. You’ve touched on it, over 20 years. And I love how you not only stay in the office but you also do video and speaking. Let’s talk about that for a minute. How does video and sharing your information via video and speaking to audiences help your business?

Eddie Weller [12:22]

It’s huge. I haven’t marketed in quite some time. I don’t even have business cards set up in my office. My staff gets on me like, “Would you get business cards.” I’m like, “No. Go online. See my videos, GettingWeller.com.” You’ll learn about me on the resource page. It’s a 26-minute orientation video getting you introduced to what it is that I do. Download the new paperwork. And then there’s a video series that follows. And I walk people through it. It’s simple. Every person who walks in this door, “Tell me what you know about me.” And they all have an answer. They all have their own interpretation based on the videos that they see online. So videos are huge. And I think a lot of people are intimidated by the camera. And we have to ignore that. We have to think about the person on the other side of that camera that is getting a little bit of inspiration. Regardless of the business, by the way. A little bit of inspiration going, “I want that product. I want what they have. Maybe I couldn’t do what they do but I want what they have.” And I think if we get out of our own way – you know a lot of people are like, “How do I look on camera? What’s this? Kind of like the stuff we were talking about today. We tend to be -including myself – so perfect. That perfect route is the enemy of progress. And it doesn’t allow you to move forward. So just get it done and Get Weller as you do it. And so that’s how I look at it.

Mario Fachini [13:36]

I love it. Well, we’re going to go to the sponsor and we’re going to come back to the Imperfect Action Round. I got some rapid fire questions for you. Are you ready for them? Go time.

SPONSOR Be.Live [13:45]

Instead of trying to get your prospects attention, why not be so captivating they can’t look away. That’s a quote from my book Video Marketing for Business Owners and I’m saying that again today. Because the truth of the matter is that if you can’t get your prospect’s attention, they’re not going to pay attention to you and they’re not going to receive your message and you’ll never be able to help them. That’s why I love Be.Live. Before it even launched, I was using it in the beta phase. And it is the simplest and easiest way to do Facebook Lives to reach your audience and to interact with them. You can queue the comments up. You can take questions. You can answer them live. There’s live polling features. You can make a professional looking production very inexpensively and very quickly which is important. Because you don’t want to be spending your time messing around with computers and hardware and all this other stuff. Live streaming can get very intense. And there’s literally nothing else I would recommend to start off with that is simpler, easier, and more affordable than Be.Live. So check out MarioFachini.com/BeLive. Once again, that’s MarioFachini.com/BeLive.

Mario Fachini [14:51]

All right. We are back with Dr. Weller. And it’s time for the Imperfect Action Round. Dr. Weller, what is the biggest problem you see in your audience?

Eddie Weller [15:04]

My gosh. In my audience, as far as the audience that I have on my social media audience or the audience in my office?

Mario Fachini [15:12]

Everyone who sees you, hears you, and experiences you.

Eddie Weller [15:15]

I sell – one of the things I have within my own profession, I have this thing that I do online videos for my profession that teach them how to run a business. Most doctors graduate school, get that piece of paper, and are clueless how to be an entrepreneur. But then again, God made more employees than employers. But the thing that I tend to struggle with is that when they see the videos, they automatically assume like, “Oh my gosh. This is so crazy expensive. I could never afford him.” And I get that a lot. And so, “How much do you charge?” And I go – “That’s it. That’s all you charge.” Because there’s such a creative value. So I guess the problem of that is I try to be pretty transparent with my videos. Sometimes I’ll talk God. Sometimes I’ll swear. Sometimes I’ll talk sex. I talk about everything because it all relates to your health. And it tends to ruffle the feathers with some people. So I think my transparency tends to be the biggest problem. I don’t like to play on fake book. I like to be real with people. And some don’t like that.

Mario Fachini [16:16]

I absolutely love it. It’s one of the reasons I invited you on the show. Don’t change the thing about as far as I’m concerned.

Eddie Weller [16:22]

Thank you. Thank you.

Mario Fachini [16:24]

All right. So the second question I got for you is the shortest path to the cash. What is the number one thing other people that are in the chiropractic field could do to increase their practice?

Eddie Weller [16:35]

Okay. So I guess the – of course say chiropractic instead of chiropracting. I just want to clarify. But what they can do is they have to stop looking at patients or clients like dollar signs. And I think when you get out of that mindset that I’m just here to serve people with my gifts that God has given me, you will attract as such. It’s really, really obvious when somebody is in the business and they’re chasing pain. When you see a chiropractor, neck pain, ankle pain, knee pain, jaw pain, they’re a replacement for an aspirin, they want to get paid. And so they’re not teaching a lifestyle. And so if they’re not teaching the lifestyle, then they’re really not serving the community. And that transparency becomes really foggy. And people just get a bad taste in their mouth. So I think the very first thing is, I coach students every single week in my office that are going to school to kind of get ready to be an entrepreneur. I teach them not only you have to be transparent, but have a desire to give back to the community no matter what. And so that’s something I like doing. Sometimes it’s financial. Sometimes it’s with your gifts. You know, I used to build homes before I was a doc. So there’s a lady here in the office and she’s having a hard time with her house and different things. I’m like, “You know what? I’m going to get my pickup truck, load it with tools, and you have three hours of my time. Make a punch list. I will fix anything in your house.” I did that just last week. And so those are the things that you become part of the community to where I get invited to birthday parties, baptisms, funerals. I’m part of their life. That’s how I choose to do it. So you have to know who you are and your why. And I think most doctors, including people and entrepreneurs, don’t have a mission statement or a vision statement of their why. So that’s the first and foremost thing you have to do, write that down of why you are here on earth and how you’re going to deliver that message.

Mario Fachini [18:16]

Bringing that straight fire. And thank you for telling me the correct pronunciation because I had no idea. Chiropractic field. Chiropractory is not a word. Thank you.

Eddie Weller [18:26]

No.

Mario Fachini [18:28]

So last question for other chiropractors in the chiropractic field, how do you increase the customer lifetime value? And this is very interesting because you said most of them look at them like dollar signs. Now you do have a business but how do you treat them like a person and treat them like a person but still maximize the business profit.

Eddie Weller [18:50]

Maximize the business profit. Because let’s face it, you know, if you want to help and serve poor people, don’t be one. So we have to make money. And so we have to make money because it is a business. Nothing’s wrong with making money. Again, it’s going back – it really goes back to how you want to give back. First and foremost, I tell all docs, keep your overhead low. You have your –  when you first out, keep the overhead low. Heck, my first office, I did donation for three years. I put a mailbox on the wall, whatever people can afford – God will provide – put money in the box. I didn’t have any money for an office build out. I kept it really, really small. I got an X-ray machine for $3,000. I garbage picked all of my stuff in my office and I spray painted it, reupholstered it. I did it all myself. I didn’t have any money. But you keep it low. But as you grow, have that same mentality. And so when you do that, you’re not getting overwhelmed with, “Oh my gosh. Now, I got to pay X, Y, and Z.” I know a doc right now, they partnered up together. Their monthly nut is $9,200 before they eat – 9200 bucks before you eat. Are you out of your mind? You’re working for yourself. It would be different if you have an office generating that. What? You have no choice but to look at people as dollar signs. Because all you’re thinking about is the clothes. And so the clothes will come. I don’t ever think about those things. And when you do that, get out of your own way. Because again, if you don’t have the vision and mission statement and your overhead is too high, you’re in it for you. Not them.
