What a great show. I loved listening to your episode with Dave Lorenzo on the 60 Second Sale. As someone who loves sales (but loathed them when I started with cold calls and cold door knocking), I loved what he said about hearing the word “no”. In sales, we are trained to look for the no’s. It makes us really good at it if we can really get into it. What you two were talking about with regard to how our limitations are i’’our minds really resonated with me. I love that because it’s a game changer when you understand that sales is just about helping people solve a massive problem and getting paid for it and then taking imperfect action, get on your feet and have fun. Thanks so much! Love this show.

Mario Fachini [1:33]
Here he is ladies and gentlemen, Alex Nerney. Alex, how are you feeling today?
Alex Nurney [1:37]
I’m doing great. Let’s do this thing.
Mario Fachini [1:39]
I am excited to hear what you have to say because, obviously, you’re successful with your businesses – your multiple businesses and they’re in – a couple are in the same field, a couple are in a different field. And I want to know your take on why aren’t you working a job? Why did you decide to build this empire instead?
Alex Nurney [1:57]
Yes. So it was about 2015, I was working as a personal trainer. And my hours were being traded for dollars. And I was really sick of waking up at 5:00 a.m. I told myself at the beginning if I could just sleep in and I could afford organic groceries, those were the big goals that I set at the time. And and that was the main catalysts that drove me and got me started. I had one successful website and progressed and progressed. But man, that’s where it all begin.
Mario Fachini [2:33]
Well, I love hearing that because I remember years ago myself, I was like, “Man, if I could just get some protein shakes that would be, like, I’ve arrived.” Because those things aren’t cheap. And consistently –
Alex Nurney [2:47]
Yeah. Funny how those little things can drive you forward like that. I mean, for me, it was like those early morning clients. I was just like, “Man, if I could just sleep, how much more healthy and how much more happy would I be?” You can start small.
Mario Fachini [3:02]
That was actually another one of mine. I was working somewhere and starting my company and I’ve been doing it full time since ’08 now. But I was like, “If there’s just one thing I could get and it was control my calendar, I was like, that’s everything.” And it sounds like it was for you too. I got to ask, what’s this if I could just sleep in more? Is that 5:00 a.m. or 6 :00 a.m. for you? Or is that [7:00], [8:00], [9:00] or later?
Alex Nurney [3:28]
Do you mean where it started? Or where I sleep now?
Mario Fachini [3:33]
Yes to both.
Alex Nerney [3:33]
Okay. So where it started, I was waking up, I think, at 430. I learned that really expensive clients that wanted to pay well wanted to me up really early.
Mario Fachini [3:44]
For the personal training?
Alex Nerney [3:46]
For the personal training. Yeah. And then what was worse about that, too, is that you also work nights. You don’t kind of work in the middle of the day as a personal trainer. You might get a few clients here and there. But yeah, so you lost your weekends. You’re training at 4:30 a.m. It’s like you’re going out with friends.
Mario Fachini [4:03]
Yeah. [Unintelligible] [00:04:04] that time.
Alex Nerney [4:05]
Now, there’s no alarm clock. And I typically get up when the sun comes up at about [7:00] here. I get these big windows that we were fighting to get the lighting right in here. But yeah, so that’s my typical wakeup time these days.
Mario Fachini [4:21]
Well, congrats on achieving your goal.
Alex Nerney [4:25]
Thank you. Thank you.
Mario Fachini [4:26]
Now how has it been since then? So you’re saying to 2015, you got the idea and you wanted to switch it around. What were the first couple of years like?
Alex Nurney [4:34]
So the first couple of years were pretty chaotic. They started out as – you know, when you start out a business and you start out for yourself, you are usually still working your job while working on your side business. So all of the time that we had all of the spare hours that we had, were being moved towards our business. And about six months in to building one of the first successful websites I had, we started to get some real traffic and real traction. And we just had to kind of make a decision at that point of if we were going to continue to work our jobs or if we could potentially quit and kind of go all in, and if we had enough savings. At the time, the websites weren’t making any money. They were getting traffic and there were fans there, and people were showing up. And so we just kind of decided that – we were actually on a hike in Washington. And we just had the idea. I was like, “Let’s let’s try it. Let’s do it.” What’s the worst that could happen? We could go back to our jobs after a year. We’d be fine. And so we quit our jobs, sold everything we had, moved into my dad’s house, and got to work. And we would eat eggs and rice every day. People seem to like that story. And I mean every day. We would – because eggs had the protein and the fats and then rice had the carbohydrates. And so we would eat that to save money to reinvest in our business. So that was the first six months. Whenever we did that, we made that commitment. Our business started to double. So we weren’t making any money. First month in January, we make our first few hundred. And then 400, 800, 1,600, all the way progressing up to a 40 grand month. And it was crazy. I had that success on that website and started traveling. And life completely turned around, man. Life was a complete one idea at at that point. And it sounds like it’s only continued to grow since then.
Alex Nerney [6:36]
Yeah. That was just the beginning. And I didn’t know it was going to be the beginning, but it was. Because I started that website. And then once you started a successful one, I was able to see that there was another opportunity here. Where a lot of people are teaching others how to make money online. But we had become successful as health and fitness bloggers. And so we felt like our story would be a little more endearing than most make money online people. Because we had started a separate business. So we started that blog as well. And that blog quickly rose. It rose up to making over 100 grand per month. And then saw another opportunity. We saw that the web development space on YouTube was pretty unfulfilled by anybody who is good at videography. And so me and my best friend partnered in on that as well. And that website is now worth about 1.5 to 2 million right in there. So, yeah, it just – I wouldn’t say naturally progressed, but it did. I didn’t set out to build all these websites, I didn’t set out, again, to be a multi millionaire. I didn’t think that was ever my thought process. It was just like, “Here’s another opportunity. Let’s do it.”
Mario Fachini [7:42]
But you were always looking at ways to serve people and help others.
Alex Nerney [7:47]
I was. I was always looking at ways to get both my needs fulfilled and theirs. I try not to pretend that starting Create A Pro Website or Create and Go was solely out of the goodness of my heart. But I do feel like I do really genuinely care about the customer. And I do genuinely care about their results and their success. And I think when you really do, as a business owner, it always comes back to you. I think the flatter the internet gets, the more information that’s out there, the better people are able to find products and resources that actually work for them. So if you’re the product and resource that actually works for them, it ends up benefiting you. So I believe that’s also one of the things that has led to success.
Mario Fachini [8:35]
Well, I appreciate you for sharing that. And there’s nothing wrong with having your own reasons to do things because, otherwise, they’d never get off the ground. You know, same for me. I didn’t want to have to go to work ever again. And I haven’t since May of ’08 and I’m thankful for that. But I’ve always loved helping people and it’s like, someone asked me on an interview I did, they’re like, “How did you start your company?” And I joke, I go, “Which time? Number one. And number two, it was like, if I could just get paid to have fun, That would be awesome.”
Alex Nurney [9:07]
Yeah. Yeah. Get paid to do that thing that you love to do. That special unique thing that you were made to do.
Mario Fachini [9:15]
That’s exactly it. So I checked out your stuff and I know you’re adding a lot of value. Tell me about your media company now. So you started off doing one thing and the next one. Tell us where it went into now?
Alex Nurney [9:28]
Yeah. So it just progresses. It continually gets crazier and crazier. So we created three separate businesses, essentially – well, two separate ones if you look at them from an LLC standpoint. They both have a lot of success. And I’ve just decided with the knowledge that I have in the internet space and then the knowledge that I have in the creative space as well, that I want to start a media company. And I want to start something that is centered around buying and developing websites, buying and developing YouTube channels. And pairing those two together. A lot of what I see on the internet is that, yes, some will have a good website but not a good YouTube channel. Some will have a good website, but not a good Pinterest. It’s really the combination of all of them together that make them so powerful. And I have a very deep understanding of this because I just been doing it for a while now. And it’s also something that I’m excited about, because actually, last year was probably one of the worst years for me as an entrepreneur. Not from a success standpoint but because I was really alone. Just working on these businesses, building these empires alone in my glass prison up in these apartments. And I was just like, “You know, I want people around me. I want people that inspire me. And I want creative other people around me on a day to day basis.” And so I was like, “You know what? I’m just going to start a media company. I’m going to start something and put a bunch of people I like in there and see what we can build. Shake some things up.”
Mario Fachini [10:57]
Yeah. Because you have to sleep at some point. And you’re incredible with what you can do, just like I am, and a lot of people are, but there’s still that limit of when we got 24 hours in a day. And did you have any hesitation about creating your first team, it sounds like?
Alex Nurney [11:20]
Yes. Absolutely.
Mario Fachini [11:22]
Why is that?
Alex Nerney [11:23]
It all stemmed from the Superman was a bias where you just think like, “Oh, my gosh. I am the only one that can do this thing as well as I can.” And there might be some truth there until you get proven wrong. I had it happen with a writer. It was actually before I even started these businesses. I was doing some freelance writing. And I outsourced it to a guy. And the first article, I was like, “Oh, this guy’s pretty good.” And then the second article, I was like, “Wow. That’s really on par with what I do.” The third article I got from the guy, “This guy is a better writer than me.” And this is a job that I thought for sure, like, only I could take care of. So sometimes it’s putting aside that superhero sort of mentality and allowing other people in your space.
Mario Fachini [12:16]
Yeah. When you can trust others, it’s very empowering. Because I’m thankful for my team. And there’s no way I could pull this off, my software and my author clients, without them. But at the same point, it’s you have that it’s like, “I don’t want anything to go wrong. So I’ll just keep it here.” But you can never grow if it’s never past you. And I’m always looking for good people who are better than me. Because I know where I want to go with it. You know, like you had the idea. I also had ideas. And I go, “I’m good at the ideas and executing and the sales and the marketing of it. But I don’t really care about a lot of the other pieces.” That’s not a good place to be. Now, when you find the people who love that kind of stuff and they hate the sales and marketing and the frontend stuff, that’s a killer team.
Alex Nurney [13:04]
Absolutely. So the guy who will be, you know, the first kind of hire at, actually, the media team, he’s just unbelievable at SEO. He’s unbelievable at looking at the data, and looking at the numbers, and diving so, so deep into the analytics. And I’ve just haven’t been that deep into it in a while. And so he’s – I’m just trying to surround myself with people. But it’s also more than that. The guy is incredibly charismatic to a point where it’s mind blowing, his charisma. But when you work with that guy every day, you get a little bit of that charisma from him. So I agree, putting people around you for a variety of reasons that are good at things that you suck at is an excellent way to go.
Mario Fachini [13:51]
I’ll never forget. I fired myself. The first time I fired myself, I put on Facebook, I was like, “I’m so upset. I got fired today for my graphic design job.” And this is, like, five, eight years ago or whatever. And everyone’s like, “Oh, no. No.” And there’s a few people that are like, “You don’t have a graphic design job.” And then a few entrepreneur friends were like, “Congrats. Welcome to the table.” I remember my friend, they knew exactly what I was talking about. And it was, you know, I had someone in place but I was still hanging on too much. Now, I’m like, “All right. How can I get rid of this?” And it’s one of the fun things I get to do helping people create courses and books is take their expertise and organize it where someone else can take the information you disseminated and turn it into a tutorial, like you’ve done.
Alex Nurney [14:38]
Yeah .For sure.
Mario Fachini [14:40]
How important do you think it is to be able to – I mean, with your experience with blogs and, especially, the YouTube channel, I mean, we can talk about video if you want. But what has it done for you to be able to take that expertise and put it back out there for others to digest?
Alex Nurney [14:59]
It’s been awesome. I think, the most rewarding – probably by far the most rewarding thing that I’ve done up to this point has been that I was on a trip to New Zealand. It must have been two months ago, almost a little bit more now anytime soon. But we were out there. And I remember like I’m on this amazing trip. It’s just we’re bungee jumping, we are dirt biking, we are on the black sand beaches, beautiful place. And we’re out there and I had a video that I had created for Create and Go get published. And it gets published and I’m sitting there on my phone. I’m reading the comments on this video. You have these long paragraphs of like, “This is so helpful. You haven’t ever seen something so in depth.” And people just sending all this love and the support. And I remember at that time being like, “I am more interested in that than being in New Zealand right now.” Like, the pleasure from being in this cool place was awesome. But the impact I was making meant way more to me at that moment. And it had a really profound effect on me and just how I’m going to view things moving on into the future. But yeah, so I think that answers it.
Mario Fachini [16:20]
It does. And it’s inspiring to hear that because some people think it’s like, “I’ll be successful when I can just do whatever I want. Have unlimited money and just float around.” And, you know, I have ultra-successful people on my show like yourself, and it’s like, I’m trying to think of one that had an answer that wasn’t similar to what you’re saying. And it’s not about the impact. And I’m trying to think if there was one. My team and I need to do a better job screening people. Because I’m personally looking for people like yourself to align with. And truthfully, if I get the least highest any sense that they’re not have a servant’s heart, I’m like, “No. They’re not coming on my platform or show or whatever.” But the people who are, I’ll bend over backwards and put you in front of everyone I know and reach out and contact them for you.
Alex Nurney [17:12]
Yeah. Love that. And it’s the real recognizes real. It’s like the same way when I see other business owners, you can see what they’re in it for. And kind of like you said earlier as well, you know, you can get it, it’s mutual. You can get the things you want to need as well as serve other people to a very high degree. So there’s virtually no reason not to be in my mind.
Mario Fachini [17:37]
I think it’s easier now more than ever.
Alex Nerney [17:40]
I think so.
Mario Fachini [17:42]
I mean, it’s always been possible. But now it’s just a matter of – you know, every time I look and retool our system for the publishing process that I’ve been doing for close to a decade, it’s like it’s getting simpler and simpler as long as you have the idea. And the same thing with websites and video. So I got to ask you because – what’s that song? These are a few of my favorite things. You’re talking websites, tech geek stuff, video. I’m a little familiar. What’s your favorite and why?
Alex Nurney [18:12]
My favorite thing? I have a weird new favorite thing, man. We got to talk about it.
Mario Fachini [18:17]
Go for it.
Alex Nerney [18:18]
It’s actually TikTok. I think in the business world, most people are still a little confused on what it is. I love it. And I want to explain why. I love it because it gives the average person a lot of creative flexibility. They can go in there and they can create a video. They can use music. They can cut it up, chop it up, mix it up, and publish it. And I I’m just a huge fan of power to the creator. So I’m all about like I want more people to have this technology. So you get all of this amazing content. Because there’s some creative person right now out in Iowa that nobody knows about. He’s, like, on some farm. But you give them this technology and then suddenly he can do that. He might not be able to create a YouTube video yet. But he can use that phone. And so I’m super up on that. I’m just the biggest fan of YouTube. I’m on YouTube all day every day. And these are my platforms. And those are a few of my favorite things.
Mario Fachini [19:22]
Have you been to VidSummit yet?
Alex Nerney [19:24]
I have not. No.
Mario Fachini [19:26]
You should join us this fall.
Alex Nerney [19:29]
Is it awesome?
Mario Fachini [19:29]
It was killer. It was very killer when I went last year.
Alex Nerney [19:34]
Awesome.
Mario Fachini [19:35]
And there’s a lot of people like us that you’d be happy to meet and I could introduce you to some of them.
Alex Nurney [19:41]
I’d love that. I’d love that. It is a passion of mine. I come to the point – you talked about accepting the passion that you have. And videography is definitely up there. Videography and just creating. That creation of content and that creativity is is really high up there for me.
Mario Fachini [20:01]
Yeah. It’s so much fun to do. Everyone asked me, you know, “When did you decide you want to start the business?” And I recognized in high school I go, “I was going to either have an expensive hobby or very profitable business.” I chose the latter because I knew I wasn’t going to stop.
Alex Nurney [20:18]
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No doubt. We tried to do travel videography for a while, me and my best friend. And we quickly understood that that was probably the most expensive hobby that you’ve ever taken on. It’s just not only you carrying equipment, new film equipment everywhere. You’re traveling. So you’re also got the expense of traveling and staying in new places and stuff. We shot some pretty cool videos. We had a video featured on national television in Peru, which was really fun. But we had to let that one go because of the expenses.
Mario Fachini [20:51]
Now, were you also editing all the video?
Alex Nurney [20:54]
So at that time, that particular project, that was Dale, my best friend. And he is actually a videographer by trade. He was working on the videos.
Mario Fachini [21:06]
Well, it sounds like fun. I mean, if there’s a way you can – did you ever consider monetizing it with, like, sponsors or getting people to cover stuff for you?
Alex Nurney [21:17]
Yeah .We did. It’s just we ran into this issue of the videos kind of took a month to produce in totality. And there were other opportunities right in front of us. So he actually – we started creating Pro Website sort of because of that problem. Because we were like, “Well, we can start this business and we can use this to make money so we can travel.” And then we can travel how we want to travel. Because a lot of the truth of videography, you’re running around filming stuff all day, which is a hell of a lot of fun. But at the same time, it’s not like you get to relax and really enjoy and vibe with a place. So that’s where we ended up on it.
Mario Fachini [21:57]
Yeah. I can relate to that because when I’m speaking at events – like, I just got back from Orlando at Podfest. It’s one thing to be there taking pictures and doing stuff. It’s another thing to not be worried about it and just immerse yourself and connect with people. So I usually like to get to places early, take a bunch of pictures because the scenery is not going to change. And then be fully present for the event. And then get some state chats of some friends and stuff. But it’s different. I remember people always going – you know, I grew up in Detroit, Michigan. And people are like, “Well, I don’t like it here. In the winter, it’s cloudy. It’s snowing. I’m going to move to Florida.” I’m like, “So move. I don’t want anyone here that doesn’t want to be here.” But I go, “You do realize if you’re working a job, the beach is just going to tease you through the window. It’s not the same as being on vacation, right?” “What do you mean?” There’s a big difference when you’re on vacation and nothing’s on your mind. That’s why everyone enjoys it. Not just because you’re in a different venue, if you will.
Alex Nurney [22:55]
It so funny that you’re bringing that up too. Because there’s something that we discovered when we were traveling and working. It was that, you can sort of maintain a business. Like, you can maintain kind of where it’s at if you were traveling. Try and growing that thing on weird Wi Fi in some foreign land, the ideal image of it is way prettier than the actual reality of it. And that can happen a lot. I’ve seen it happen all the time with people. Is that they idealize something. For instance, some people idealize working from home a lot. And while I think it’s great if you have a family and you have other people. If you’re single guy like myself, working from home is really lonely. So it’s like, everybody has these idealizations in their head. And in practicality, they can they can be very different.
Mario Fachini [23:48]
Yeah. It reminds me of that picture where the guy on the sidewalk is looking at the guy in the cargo, “I wish I had a car.” And the guy in the car is looking at the Lamborghini going, “I wish I had that car.” And the guy in the Lambo is looking at the helicopter. And the guy in the helicopter is looking at the plane. And then you see the guy in the balcony looking at the plane that’s in a wheelchair that he says, “I wish I could just leave.”
Alex Nurney [24:13]
Yeah. Exactly. Exactly. The one I saw as well was there’s the big buff guy in the gym. And he’s looking at the skinnier guy. And the skinnier guy is talking to some girl. He’s like, “Man, I wish I was charismatic like that guy.” And that guy is looking at the buff guy and was like, “Man, I wish I was strong like him.” It’s everywhere.
Mario Fachini [24:31]
The grass is greener where you water it.
Alex Nurney [24:34]
I like that. I’ve heard that one.
Mario Fachini [24:36]
Well, I got to ask you a couple more things. And you’re giving a lot of Expert Authority insights here. But what would you say for someone that’s looking to create the YouTube channel or the blog or do any of this? You know, you alluded to there’s all these opportunities, but there were some that were right in front of you. What would you advise for someone who wants to go wider and just take on a bunch of new stuff with what they’re doing. Is it worth it? Or should they just double down on what’s already working?
Alex Nurney [25:08]
I think that can be difficult. Because it really depends on where the person is at. I would say if they – that opportunity was a rare occurrence is what I’ll say. Where we started Create A Pro Website. It was just a rare, perfect, symbiotic relationship where it was like, “I know all this stuff about what Dale needs to create.” Dale is this professional videographer who wants to learn web development . And he’s also charismatic on camera. There’s just so many moving parts to that. That that was just like one of those, “We absolutely have to do this.” And even then, it took us, like, a year and some change before we earned any real money from it. So it was just one of those things that it was the perfect line up. I think unless you have something that just strikes you as like, “Wow. We have to do that.” I would say continue to double down on what you do. Also, with the media company, we started this media company. It’s a perfect relationship and marriage between what I know and the guy that’s going to essentially be running most of it. So that’s what I would say. I think it’s kind of like opportunities in real estate. It’s like you get the best deal when you’re just sitting back and waiting on things. If you’re, like, actively hunting and seeking, that’s when you kind of go down the wrong path. I think that answers it.
Mario Fachini [26:42]
Well, I appreciate that. One of the last things I’m going to ask is, what is your biggest success story?
Alex Nerney [26:50]
So my favorite one – man, there’s a few. I want to do two, if that’s all right.
Mario Fachini [26:56]
Yeah. Please. I’m not about limiting or small mentality here.
Alex Nurney [27:03]
Cool.
Mario Fachini [27:03]
I might even let you do three if you got them.
Alex Nerney [27:06]
I got a few. I got a few. But there was one, so I ran this health and wellness site. And that’s where we started. It needed testimonials for the website. And so we emailed out and some people send some text testimonials. Were like, “You know what? It would be really great if some people got on video and did this”. Our product target is older, like 45 to 65 year old woman is typically the users of our product because of Pinterest and a variety of other reasons. And this lady named Shauna sent us this video. And I kid you not, me and my business partner – and I won’t talk too much about it because I’ll just break down. It was just, like, 20 seconds in, I was bawling my eyes out. Just talking about what the products have done in her life. And like, “I’m [unintelligible] [00:27:55] now.” That just changed my view on everything. It just changed my view on we’re doing stuff that matters here. Let’s really, really go in on this. She had lost, like, 100 pounds or something like that. Talking about the way her husband looks at her and all those things. So that one struck me deep. The next one that is a really cool one is Almira. She was a lawyer working at a typical law job, hating her life. She starts to blog. She goes from zero to 20,000 a month in record time, probably, in three months with our courses. She was just one of those people struck the perfect niche, struck the perfect hammer on the head, and has made it all the way doing 45 grand a month on her own with her legal blog. Both of those stories are cool for different ways.
Mario Fachini [28:54]
That’s impressive because I found myself that there’s so many people out there that have good ideas like us. And they’re afraid to execute. And it’s not that they don’t want to, don’t know – they’re not emotionally all over the place. It’s not that they don’t have the resources. They just don’t know what steps to take. And the second you empower them with a book, a training a course, a video, or a blog entry, and it’s A, B, C, D, E, F, G, you get success stories like you’re sharing with us.
Alex Nurney [29:27]
It’s so funny that you say that, too. I couldn’t agree more. There are just some people that are just wired like that, that just need to see it. And once they see the vision, it’s just like, 100 percent. And they just go – and out of all of our success stories, those are the people that have gotten to the 30 grand per month, 20 grand per month mark, are the people who are just, like, they’re just all in. You feel their commitment from the get go.
Mario Fachini [29:58]
Yeah. I’ve seen it, too, in various things. And especially with podcasting, it’s how people show up, and how long they’ve been doing the show, how many they put out, what they’re doing with it. And it’s no different than any business. It’s like, you could be doing it for one year and go to the top or do it for ten years and just still be kind of there. And that’s fine if that’s what you want. But where I like to move people from is that confusion state of wherever you are, because maybe you’ve been doing it five years and you’re not completely happy, but you’re thankful for where you’ve been. And it’s just like, how do you get ahead? But there’s the other type words like a strong pass, where you’ve seen him keep doing the same thing over and over and over and over. And always asking what do I do to do the next thing. And then someone tells them and then they don’t do it. And it’s like, a couple years of that, heck, even a couple months, it’s like, “No.” You can get a book for $20 and be better off. That shiny object is #false on that.
Alex Nurney [31:02]
Yeah. Yeah. Those people always seem to have that shiny object syndrome to the max.
Mario Fachini [31:11]
I love books. I started with a lot of mine and that’s why I enjoy doing them. Because, I mean, I remember when I had about five bucks and it cost 399 to ship it. And the book was only a penny or two. And then I took the other dollar for highlighters and just devoured them. Someone gives me a training on something, give me 30 to 60 days, and it’s going to be a done deal.
Alex Nurney [31:39]
Love it. Love that.
Mario Fachini [31:41]
So I love where you’re coming from. I love what you’re sharing. I got one more thing to do here. We call this the Wheel of Whatever. We’re going to spin it and pretend that the question on it. Where in the world haven’t you been that you’d love to travel to and why?
Alex Nurney [31:59]
Ireland – not Ireland. I’m sorry. Iceland really speaks to me right now.
Mario Fachini [32:04]
Why is that?
Alex Nerney [32:06]
There’s something about the rugged way that it’s set up. There’s something about the black sands and the ice and the coldness of it that inspires or at least pushes up that adventure junkie in me that’s like let’s go do that thing. That looks wild. That looks interesting. That one is. That one’s next once once things settle down a little bit.
Mario Fachini [32:39]
That would be a fun place. I have not been there myself either yet.
Alex Nurney [32:43]
Yeah. What about yourself? What’s for you?
Mario Fachini [32:45]
I’ve always wanted to go to Greece. Well, Italy and Greece because I’m Italian. I’m not Greek. Greek just seems nice. And there’s another reason.
Alex Nurney [32:57]
Do tell.
Mario Fachini [32:58]
I believe Atlantis is also it’s either under or is Santorini.
Alex Nurney [33:05]
Okay. All right.
Mario Fachini [33:07]
I’ve always wanted to find Atlantis.
Alex Nerney [33:10]
That’s the life goal?
Mario Fachini [33:11]
And based on the research I’ve done that’s where I currently believe it’s at. So –
Alex Nerney [33:18]
Google history is going to be interesting. You get more deep in the Atlantis searches.
Mario Fachini [33:23]
You know, that wheel of what – I know you like to travel so that’s why I asked you that. But depending on the person, I mean, it’s my show. I can throw an audible. But I’ve asked conspiracy theory stuff or like, do you think dinosaurs exist? How old is the world? Where do you think Atlantis is? Do you think the moon landing was real? And some people are just like – so I’m excited to actually get the things on there and just have it land on something they don’t want and be like, “Hey.” don’t tell them but I’ll let them pick a different one. I’m not going to make anyone feel uncomfortable. But yeah, it’s just interesting. I mean, the world is a big place and we only know so much about it even with all the scholars out there that know everything.
Alex Nurney [34:02]
Yeah. For sure. I think it’s also space is so interesting to me as well. It’s the same deal.
Mario Fachini [34:08]
Oh, we got out there too.
Alex Nerney [34:10]
Man, yeah. I wasn’t that into it. And I had this one professor and his name was Dan Canofic. I sat down in an astronomy class and he just is the biggest nerd, I think, I’ve ever seen in my whole life. But how he lit up about the stars and how big the universe is and everything, it just pulled me in. I was just like, “Man, I think I’m into this too.” And it was something about him and his energy. But – yeah.
Mario Fachini [34:37]
Yeah. When you start thinking globally and universally, problems become a lot smaller. And I find a lot of people are just so microcosm in their own space. It’s like there’s a whole world out there of people you can help.
Alex Nurney [34:54]
Absolutely. I always said we are one alien invasion away from the world coming together, you know.
Mario Fachini [35:00]
It could be.
Alex Nerney [35:02]
If there was some sort of alien invasion out there, I bet we’d all be in together. I bet the human race could put aside its differences for a little while.
Mario Fachini [35:09]
I think people naturally want to be connected. And the bad ones make sure we stay driven apart. But there’s been many times where it’s like everyone does come together and that’s where magic happens.
Alex Nerney [35:25]
I agree.
Mario Fachini [35:26]
Well, we’re going to thank our sponsor and come back to the second half of the Imperfect Action Round righ after we thank our sponsor.
SPONSOR Acorns [35:34]

Mario Fachini [36:48]
Are you ready to take imperfect action?
Alex Nurney [36:50]
All the time. Let’s do it.
Mario Fachini [36:51]
That’s awesome. Sixty second answers. First question, what is the fastest path to the cash?
Alex Nurney [37:00]
The fastest path to the cash would be Facebook marketing to a unique product that you made. Probably something – you could get something like Alibaba. But I imagine it would be something like some sort of course or handbook. Facebook marketing to a webinar to sell your product is the fastest way to get money right now. You’d want to have some expertise on the product, but that would be the fastest.
Mario Fachini [37:28]
So it sounds like you’re saying just pay for the traffic.
Alex Nurney [37:31]
I would say that. If you wanted to fast, absolutely.
Mario Fachini [37:35]
Excellent. Number two, what’s the biggest problem you see your prospects making and the fastest way they can fix it?
Alex Nurney [37:41]
The biggest problem they have is they get in their head. And the fastest way to fix it is by taking a ton of action and just progressing. Understanding that the first actions you take are going to be terrible. And you are not going to be good at it at the beginning, but be okay with that and be okay with looking like an idiot at the beginning. And just trying to get better every day. If you did that, you would solve 99 percent of the problems that you face in your head.
Mario Fachini [38:14]
That’s powerful. And it’s very true. Because you can sit there and bang your head against the wall for a week or just do something and be better than you were the week before.
Alex Nurney [38:24]
Absolutely. Absolutely. I head coach in high school and he was – you know, he had this high pitched voice and he’s like, “The world belongs to the doers.” And he was right.
Mario Fachini [38:39]
Have you ever done voiceover work?
Alex Nurney [38:41]
I ave done a YouTube channel called The Health Nerd where I did a little bit of voice stuff.
Mario Fachini [38:48]
That was pretty good. You kind of totally just switched that right there real quick. And I just pictured a cartoon like.
Alex Nurney [38:53]
He was a cartoon. Maybe we should go for it.
Mario Fachini [38:58]
Number three, what is the best way to maximize customer lifetime value?
Alex Nurney [39:04]
Offer them the first offer they get from you. I mean every offer they get from you should knock out a park. But the first one they get from you, destroy it. If you give them an email opt in, make the best email opt in they’ve ever been. If you sell them a $7 product, go over, over, over, and beyond. If you sell $100 product, make it worth 2,000. And that person will be with you forever.
Mario Fachini [39:33]
You just spit some fire here. That’s solid. Appreciate that. What are a couple books that have helped you?
Alex Nurney [39:42]
The biggest one was The Millionaire Fastlane. The reason why was it just quantified things. It just kind of really broke down like, “Hey, you spent X amount hours in the day. Here’s the time that you waste. Here’s where it’s not going to make you more money.” It just got me tooled in a way to think about how I’m spending my time and how I’m spending my money. And if money is going to come back from that. And it just got me really focused. I love that book. And I met the author too. And he’s a great guy. The next book would be Steal Like An Artist, Austin Kleon. He talks about ideas are not original. They are formations of multiples. So you take some inspiration from here, take some inspiration from there, take some inspiration from there, you put them together, you kind of have you. And so when you think about content, you’re thinking about creating anything. It’s okay to take inspiration from others. Yeah, that book has saved me multiple times.
Mario Fachini [40:47]
I have not even heard of that book. And I love the title. And I’m personally thankful you shared it with Expert Authority World because I’m going to check that out right now.
Alex Nerney [40:56]
It’s the best coffee table book. It is small. It is a quick read. It might take you three hours to get through. And it can be just mind opening.
Mario Fachini [41:11]
Well, I appreciate everything you’ve shared. Where would you like people to learn more about you?
Alex Nurney [41:15]
You know, right now I’m really working on building the personal YouTube channel. So my name Alex and then last name N-E-R-N-E-Y. I’m working on building that up. We’ve got 500 subscribers on our first months. So I’m pretty excited about that.
Mario Fachini [41:31]
Nice.
Alex Nerney [41:31]
Yeah. And we have multiple websites and blogs. If you’re interested in blogging, CreateAndGo.com is the place to go. I have a YouTube channel that goes with that. If you’re interested in just building a portfolio website, something yourself Create A Pro Website is great. And yeah, if you follow the YouTube channel, you’ll follow me trying to build this media company, and building out this personal brand and it’s going to be –
Mario Fachini [41:56]
I don’t think you’re trying to build that. I think you already built it. And now you’re just backfilling it with the logistics.
Alex Nurney [42:03]
We’ll see. Yeah. Maybe. Maybe.
Mario Fachini [42:07]
You already did it. You’re just dotting the T’s and crossing the J’s now. Well, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this. And I will make sure those links are on your show notes page on EAInterviews.com. Thank you again, Alex. It’s been an absolute pleasure.
Alex Nerney [42:23]
Thanks so much. All right.
Mario Fachini [42:24]
All right. Expert Authority World, we have another great episode here today. I’ll see you tomorrow. Have a great day and God bless.

Spare change? How’s that going to make a difference? I know that’s what I thought before I started investing with Acorns. Throwing change in a jar is not very leveraged and time consuming. But what about all the transactions you don’t use cash for? You know, like, majority. Acorns not only invest your spare change automatically with roundups. It also lets you add a preset amount to each transaction, regardless. It’s pretty inspiring to see how quickly and easily you can end up with a pile of cash instead of a pile of receipts.
